Kanga (Kanga's Waltzing Matilda RN TDIA)

Kanga earned her CGC certificate along with her Therapy Dogs Internation (TDI) certification.  She started volunteering in pet-assisted therapy visits to nursing homes near the end of 2002.  Since moving to Minnesota in 2003, we make our visits to St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.  In February of this year, Kanga made her 50th visit, earning her Therapy Dogs International's TDIA title.

TDIA stands for TDI Active.  This working title was created by TDI as a means to recognize dedicated, active volunteers, who share their dogs for the benefit of others, and the dogs' tireless determination to work in the field of therapy.

If you haven't considered therapy work with your dog, you should!  It's amazingly rewarding in many ways, including the working relationship you have with your dog.  For more information on Therapy Dogs International, visit their web site:  http://www.tdi-dog.org/

Earlier this year, at the age of 6-1/2 years, Kanga entered a Rally trial, her first-ever competition of any sort (and Deb's first-ever Obedience competition!).  Her debut resulted with back-to-back Qualifying Rally Novice runs at the Northstar Working Group Associations first Obedience and Rally trials.  She had her third Qualifying run in her third competition at Minneapolis Kennel Club's trials, earning her the title of Rally Novice (RN) in Febuary of 2006.
